7th Safar A’maal: Night & Day Guide – Imam Hassan & Imam Kazim
Table of Contents
Introduction
The 7th of Safar is regarded as a day of sorrow and reflection. The month of Safar is well-known for bringing challenges, and nothing can remove hardship except almsgiving, supplication to Almighty Allah, and traditional supplications of seeking His protection.
Al-Muhaddith al-Fayd and other scholars have mentioned that if you desire to be saved from the misfortunes of the month of Safar, you may repeat the daily supplicatory prayer ten times every day in this month. As for Sayyid Ibn Tawus, he has mentioned a supplicatory prayer that is said at the sighting of the new moon of Safar.
The Seventh of Safar
According to the opinions of al-Shahid and al-Kaf’ami, Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (AS) was martyred on the seventh of Safar, 50 AH. As for the two Shaykhs, Imam al-Hasan (AS) was martyred on the twenty-eighth of Safar. On the seventh of Safar, 128 AH, Imam Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kazim (AS) was born at al-Abwa’ — a place between Makkah and al-Madinah.

The 7th of Safar reminds the believers of patience, loyalty, and steadfastness in the path of Allah. Through the recommended A’maal from Mafatih al-Jinan — such as fasting, prayer, recitation of Qur’an, supplication, and Ziyarat — we spiritually connect ourselves to the Ahlul Bayt (AS) and renew our covenant with their mission.
This sacred day is not only about performing rituals, but about reviving the values taught by the Imams (AS):
- Sabr (patience) in hardship
- Taqwa (God-consciousness) in every action
- Wilayah (love and loyalty) to the family of the Prophet (PBUH)
May Allah accept our humble A’maal, grant us the intercession (Shafa’at) of Muhammad and Aal-e-Muhammad (SAW), and strengthen our faith through their remembrance.
