A Scholar’s Glorious Afterlife Revealed in a Dream
Introduction

How would you feel if you were told in a dream that a great scholar reached the heights of paradise not because of his knowledge, nor his students but because of one simple, consistent act of devotion?
This episode unveils a dream seen by a righteous jurist, revealing the eternal rewards of Ziyarat e Ashura.
✨ The Miracle
The pious and just jurist, Sheikh Mashkoor Arabi, a revered scholar and prayer leader from Najaf, narrated this extraordinary dream.
> “It was the night of 26th Safar, 1336 AH.
I saw Angel Azrael (A.S) in my dream.”
After offering salam, Sheikh asked him:
> “Where are you coming from?”
Azrael replied:
> “I have just returned from Shiraz, where I took the soul of Mirza Ibrahim Mehlati.”
The Sheikh asked:
> “How is he now in the Barzakh (afterlife)?”
Azrael replied:
> “He is in the best of states, in one of the most beautiful gardens of Barzakh.
Allah has appointed 1,000 angels to serve him, who carry out his commands.”
The Sheikh further asked:
> “Was it due to his high level of knowledge, or because he taught many students?”
Azrael said:
> “No.”
He asked again:
> “Was it due to his regular congregational prayers or religious preaching?”
Azrael again replied:
> “No.”
Finally, Sheikh asked:
> “Then what was the reason for his exalted status?”
Azrael responded:
> “Because of his dedication to Ziyarat e Ashura.”
For the last 30 years of his life, Mirza Ibrahim never missed the recitation of Ziyarat e Ashura.
And if ever he was ill or delayed for any reason, he would make it up later without fail.
Confirming the Dream:
The next day, Sheikh went to the home of Ayatollah Mirza Muhammad Taqi Shirazi and narrated the dream. Upon hearing it, the Ayatollah began weeping.
When asked why, he replied:
> “Mirza Mehlati has indeed passed away… He was a pillar of Islamic jurisprudence.”
People were surprised and said, “But the Sheikh saw this only in a dream, how can it be true?”
Ayatollah Shirazi replied:
> “Even though it’s a dream it is a dream of Sheikh Mashkoor, not just any ordinary person.”
The very next day, a telegram arrived from Shiraz confirming Mirza Mehlati’s death
proving the truth of the dream and the miraculous status granted by Ziyarat e Ashura.
Spiritual Reflection
This story proves a profound truth: consistency in sincere worship is more valuable than grand public deeds.
Mirza Mehlati wasn’t rewarded for status, but for his private, committed recitation of Ziyarat e Ashura.
