Why Visiting Imam Hussain (A.S) is a Divine Invitation – Sayings from the Imams (A.S)

Introduction

Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (A.S) – A Spiritual Journey

Visiting the shrine of Imam Hussain (A.S) is not an ordinary journey. It is a sacred path of love,
devotion, and recognition that brings a person closer to the Almighty. When a lover sets out towards
the holy shrine of their master, every step becomes a means of forgiveness, and every tear
becomes a certificate of salvation.

This journey is not just physical-it is the cry of the soul that seeks union with the dust of Karbala. The
atmosphere of Karbala bears witness that every visitor, from the depth of their heart, proclaims
Labbayk Ya Hussain-declaring their complete submission and loyalty.

At the sacred shrine, the visitor realizes the essence of their existence. When one stands before the
resting place of the Master of Martyrs and recites “As-Salamu Alaika Ya Aba Abdillah,” they are
presenting themselves to the Imam, and the Imam accepts them into his caravan.

Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (A.S) is a light that removes the darkness from the heart. It is a spiritual
ocean in which one doesn’t drown, but instead finds eternal life.

Not Everyone Receives This Invitation

“And Allah invites you to Paradise and to forgiveness by His permission.”
Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 221

It is by the command of Allah that a person becomes eligible for salvation and Paradise. This is a
fundamental aspect of human life: seeking forgiveness and earning divine pleasure.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said to Jabir:

“O Jabir! Perform the Ziyarat of the grave of Hussain (A.S), for the reward of visiting the grave of
Hussain (A.S) equals the reward of one hundred Hajj. Without doubt, the grave of الامام الحسين
(A.S)
is one of the gardens of Paradise, and the land of Karbala is among the lands of Paradise.”
Fazail-e-Ahlulbait, Vol 2

Karbala. He later informed Imam Jafar Sadiq (A.S)</strong> about it.

Imam Jafar Sadiq (A.S) replied:

“O Bashir! You were not deprived of the blessings that a Haji receives. Indeed, whoever performs
the Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (A.S), recognizing his rights, it is as though he has visited Allah on the
Throne.”

Karbala – A Place Loved by Allah

Abu Hashim Jafari narrates:

He and Ali Hamza once visited Imam Ali Naqi (A.S) during his illness. The Imam said:

“Send someone from my wealth to the sacred land of Karbala (Haa’ir Muqaddas).”

When they left, Ali Hamza questioned why the Imam wanted to send someone there, when he
himself is already Haa’ir Muqaddas.

Upon returning, Abu Hashim presented this to the Imam, who clarified:

“It is not as he thinks. Allah has certain places which He loves to be worshipped in, and Karbala is
one of them.”
